Big Rapids and Mecosta County is the place for year-round fun for the entire family! During the summer you can enjoy a canoe trip down the majestic Muskegon River or hit the links at the golf courses recognized by Golfweek and Golf Digest magazines. In the fall enjoy a walk along the scenic Big Rapids Riverwalk - with access for all. The White Pine Trail in the winter is great for snowmobiling or cross-country skiing, and you can cast a line in one of our numerous streams, rivers and more than 100 lakes. Big Rapids boasts a vibrant, historic, downtown district with many unique shops and businesses within walking distance of the University. Stroll down on your lunch hour and listen to live music every Friday in Pocket Park during the summer and buy the best Michigan-grown produce and flowers at the Farmer's Market that begins in May of each summer. Major supermarket and restaurant chains are also located near campus for 24-hour availability and convenience.
